Ovidiu occupies a narrow strip of land between Lake Siutghiol to the east (this is the "inner" side of the lake, opposite Mamaia) and a network of industrial zones to the west. The town stretches along the DN22 road and the A4 motorway.

Lake Siutghiol
Siutghiol is a lake about 7.5 km long with slightly brackish water, separated from the Black Sea only by the narrow strip of land on which Mamaia stands. From the eastern shore at Mamaia to the western shore at Ovidiu is a short distance across the water, but there is no regular water transport.
It is not a resort zone: the Ovidiu lakefront cannot compare with Mamaia in terms of amenities. But the lake is valued for fishing, walks and occasional water sports.
Transport
The A4 motorway — the western bypass of Constanța (Ovidiu–Agigea) — passes through Ovidiu and connects it with the city, the port and the national road network. To the centre of Constanța on the A4 — 12–15 minutes.
Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport is the main airport of south-eastern Romania. From Ovidiu to the airport is about 15 minutes, which is convenient for those who work in aviation or logistics or travel often.
