Frequently asked questions
On consulting, taxes and obtaining status in Romania
How much does obtaining Romanian citizenship cost?
The cost depends on the ground and the complexity of the case: your current country of citizenship, the state of the archival documents, the chosen path (standard or accelerated through court). After the consultation Alliance Consulting fixes the scope of work and the final price in the contract before the work begins.
What is ANAF and why does a company in Romania need it?
ANAF is the National Agency for Fiscal Administration of Romania, the equivalent of a tax authority. Through ANAF a company files returns, pays taxes, registers cash registers and undergoes inspections. Every company in Romania is obliged to deal with ANAF — we take that on for you.
What tax incentives are there for small business in Romania in 2026?
Companies with an annual turnover of up to 100 000 € can apply the micro-enterprise regime — a 1% tax on turnover, provided there is at least one full-time employee. Above 100 000 € of turnover, or at the founder’s choice, the standard corporate tax rate of 16% applies. From 2026 the former restrictions on types of activity for micro-enterprises have been lifted — the regime is available to almost any business.
How long does it take to obtain a residence permit?
Timelines depend on the chosen programme and your individual situation. At the consultation we analyse the grounds, estimate the timeline and propose the best path. Support covers every stage — from submitting the documents to receiving the residence card.
Can a company in Romania be opened remotely?
Some stages are done remotely — preparing documents, translation and certification. Personal presence is required for certain steps: opening a bank account, notarial acts. We agree the exact list of trips to Romania in advance so you can plan your visit.
What documents are needed to open a business bank account?
The basic package is the company’s articles of association, an extract from the company register, the founders’ ID, proof of the registered address and proof of source of funds. The exact list depends on the chosen bank — we prepare the documents and accompany you to the meeting with the banker.
What are the advantages of Romania’s special economic zones?
Romania’s special economic zones offer reduced profit tax rates, tax holidays and exemption from certain taxes. They suit manufacturing and logistics projects — at the consultation we assess whether this regime is beneficial for your particular business.
